A Roof for the Swimming Center
Last friday marked a wonderful gathering at the CST Swimming Center construction site for the symbolic Ferragosto celebration. In the late afternoon, the workers gathered to celebrate the topping-out ceremony for the first phase of this important facility. There were 200 people involved in the project, including numerous workers, technicians, architects, designers, and representatives from the Federal Office for Construction and Logistics and the CST.
Starting in September 2027, the Aquatic Center will feature a new 50 × 25-meter Olympic-sized pool with 10 lanes and a depth of three meters, as well as a diving pool. The Olympic pool will be modular thanks to movable partition walls, which will allow the space to be adapted to different needs. It will be possible to configure 10 lanes of 50 meters, 20 lanes of 25 meters, or create zones dedicated to various disciplines, including swimming, water polo, artistic swimming, and other aquatic activities in parallel groups. There will also be a movable floor (15 x 25 m) for swimming lessons and water aerobics. The adjacent diving pool allows for the full Olympic program, including the 10-meter platform. Since it is 25 meters wide, it also offers the option of 8 lanes for swimming training.
The side walls of the Olympic pool complex building can be fully opened. This will create a bright, semi-open pool in the summer, offering ideal weather conditions for training camps. After the first indoor phase becomes operational, construction will proceed with the creation of an outdoor Olympic pool to replace the existing pools.
