The town of Ascona is located in close proximity to Locarno on the banks of Lake Maggiore. Ascona is one of the most popular travel destinations in Canton Ticino and attracts thousands of Swiss and foreign tourists each year.



Locarno has been considered a summer resort since Roman times. Nowadays, the town is famous for its sunny, mild climate, beautiful countryside and international film festival. The locals meet at the weekly market, which takes place every Thursday on the impressive Piazza Grande. More

"Bolle di Magadino" is a wetland nature reserve. There are several nature trails with information boards in German, Italian and English so that visitors can explore the reserve at any time of year, independently or with a guide. More

Gordola Adventure Park

Gordola Adventure Park is part of Gordola Sports Centre. Aerial cableways, wooden platforms and rope rigging have been installed to enable the adventurous to make their way through the treetops – an activity requiring a sense of balance, concentration, coordination and, to some extent, strength. Brissago Islands

The Brissago Islands are located in Lake Maggiore, opposite Brissago and Ascona. There are two islands. Isola Grande is well known for its botanical garden, while the smaller island of Sant'Apollinare has been left to nature. The islands can be reached by boat from Locarno, Ascona and Brissago. More

Maggia Valley

The Maggia Valley, not far from Lake Maggiore, offers activities to suit all tastes. Visitors can bathe in the river in summer. There are plenty of opportunities for sport climbers and adventurous monster roller enthusiasts. You can also go geocaching and explore the area while taking part in a modern-day treasure hunt.

Monte Tamaro

Monte Tamaro is located in the heart of Ticino. The middle station and summit can be reached by cable car in a matter of minutes. The attractions include an adventure park, a bike park, breathtaking panoramic trails, a toboggan run, a zipwire and a new downhill track. More

Verzasca Valley

The Verzasca Valley is an ideal destination for biking and hiking along the "Sentierone" (main trail) and smaller trails. An excursion can be combined with a visit to the Ethnographic Museum in Sonogno.

From April to October, you can enjoy its downhill, freeride and mountain bike trails, as well as breathtaking panoramic hiking trails, all just waiting to be explored.

Locarno is home to numerous museums, including the Monte Verità museum complex, providing a cultural and historical overview of the site from the founding of the first colony on the mountain to the latest scientific findings. You can also visit the Museo Civico ed Archeologico, featuring local history and archaeology.

Locarno Falconry Centre

Discover the fascinating world of birds of prey at the Locarno Falconry Centre, where you can observe and photograph eagles, hawk owls and vultures. Tamaro Splash&Spa

Splash and Spa is a water park located in Rivera, between Lugano and Bellinzona. The water park is split into two areas. Magadino go-kart track

Located just a few minutes from Tenero Sports Centre, the Magadino go-kart track is open all year round and welcomes visitors of all ages. Kids and adults alike can experience an adrenaline rush while racing go-karts in a safe environment.

Luino market

Luino market is the largest and most famous market on Lake Maggiore. It takes place every Wednesday throughout the year. Stall holders sell items of clothing, food and many other commodities. Luino market is not far from Tenero and its location in the historic centre of town also makes it well worth a visit. More

"Carasc" Tibetan bridge

The bridge was erected at a height of 696 m and hangs 130 m above ground level at the centre. It allows safe passage over the rugged valley separating the municipalities of Monte Carasso and Sementina, and thus opens up new hiking opportunities in an area brimming with historic and scenic attractions and famed for its local delicacies.
