CHF 102 billion for transport

Neuchâtel, 16.12.2024 - In 2021, transport in Switzerland generated economic costs of around CHF 102 billion, which in addition to expenditure on means of transport and transport infrastructure also included costs arising from accidents and environmental and health damages, which accounted for 31% of the total. Transport in 2021 was still under the dampening influence of the COVID-19 pandemic and altogether its costs were 5% lower than in 2019, the year before the pandemic. This can be seen in the Federal Statistical Office's latest available figures on the costs and funding of transport.
