Beach tennis
Beach tennis is a variation on classic tennis and originated in Italy. Doubles matches take place on a 16 x 8 m sand court, while singles are played on a narrower 16 x 4.5 m court.
Beach tennis is not usually seen as a competitive sport. The national tennis associations are responsible for the rules. The game can be easily adapted to suit the abilities of the players, however at a more advanced level, the game is technically very challenging and a real thrill for spectators. To succeed in the game, players must master the art of using a paddle bat, have good reactions and be able to move quickly on sand.
